Practicing satyagraha is very hard, but learning from Gandhi you can find a way to just be peaceful and create peace in your own form or way. There are over 198 non violent actions that anybody can take to create peace and serenity in a certain area or subject. In Chicago there is more violence than war in parts of the city. The west side (Austin Community) is diseased with the bloodshed of gun violence and domestic violence up and down every block, and the south side (Englewood Community) is just the same but even worse. One organization called Chicago Cease Fire acts out non violent actions in order to get people's attention to stop the violence. A couple of things they do is community formations (meetings), marches, and community protests in order to keep the equality and peace on the streets between people.
The reason behind why my partner and I took a vow of silence for the day is because we want to see how people react to it. We wanted people to talk to us, we wanted people to try and make us talk to them also. All because we knew that that's how people feel when they have lost a loved one. If somebody is deceased whom was was near and dear to you, you would want them to talk and be active with you. This has a connection to the violence in the city of Chicago because silencing the lives of many may silence the lives of the living for the violence to stop. We practically made people realize in our school community and neighborhoods that we live in, that the violence in the city has to stop or many others will be silenced from the world
