The Abandonment of Bronzeville

This blog post is about the claims and problems that we want to change in our neighborhoods. Some people talked about the trash in their neighborhoods and some talked about potholes.

The purpose of the resolution project is to make a change that we want to see happen in  our neighborhoods; also to bring up something to our local government that we think that they do not know of.  When sending this Resolution I will send it to my Aldermans office. It’s because I believe that if you’re in charge of a area you should take action and notice what’s going on in your neighborhood.

My issue needs addressing because with the abandoned buildings being torn down it creates conflict between gangs and the territory that they want to conquer.

The purpose of Dystopia in the policy course is to show the other side of good. Because usually we talk about utopia and the great things we see in the world, but sometimes people forget that utopia was once dystopia. We took pictures and interviewed people in our neighborhoods to see if they think where they live at is a utopia or a dystopia.

The challenge I have overcome was being able to interview complete strangers about the place we live in. I learned that the younger people that I have interviewed thought of the neighborhood as a place of evil and terribleness.

Truss Bridge

It's the last term of this year and for our Urban Planning class we created bridges and designed them with trusses. In the first unit of our Urban Planning class we learned about Newton's Laws, Vectors, Free Body Diagrams, Net Force, and the Three Types of Triangles. When we began building bridges we had to keep in mind the three types of triangles (scalene, isosceles, & equilateral) to use in our design. We created Truss bridges using 50 popsicle sticks, and I enjoyed it. When creating and coming up with a design for my bridge I enjoyed sketching and the whole process of creation.
